CAST LIST [15 Apr 2012|05:20am]
Aaaand we have a cast! After taking a week with the tapes I made of all the auditions, I've finally narrowed this down to what looks like a great cast. Before I ramble on, let me get to the part I know you guys are wanting to see:

MEN
CASEY—Samir Desai
JOSH—Rusty Bloom
ANDREW—[npc, unless another dude wants this part!]
BRANDON—Darren Pearson

WOMEN
STRANGER—April Horowitz
MEGAN—Sarah Atherton
STEPHANIE—Ella Rhodes
JENNIFER—Audrey McAuliffe
ASHLEY—Laura Hall

I'm so excited to work with all of you! And anyone who didn't get a part is more than welcome to join in on some behind the scenes work.

If you're a cast member or someone who wants to work behind the camera, I want to have a meeting to try and work out everyone's schedules. How does Monday at 8pm work for everyone? The meeting shouldn't be very long, but I want to make sure everyone can meet everyone else, answer any questions you might have, and so on. At my house, just like the auditions! :) Thanks, everyone!

CASTING CALL [31 Mar 2012|03:52pm]
I finally got this script in working order, so let's do this! As of right now, the film is untitled. The script's about thirty pages, which translates into the same amount of minutes. I'm looking for five women and four men, any ethnicities, and college-aged unless otherwise noted.

The plot is basically your average slasher movie, but with all the genders reversed. Overnight party with a bunch of guys, female killer...killing. It's kind of experiment to see how it would turn out if played as a straight swap. With my next movie I'm going to get into tweaking some of the gender dynamics, but let's just focus on this film, shall we? :)

MEN
CASEY—Our protagonist, the "final guy." College-aged male, a quiet thoughtful type. Also a virgin, OBVIOUSLY.
JOSH—The promiscuous best friend, a jock-type.
ANDREW—The rich kid. All the action is happening at his parent's lake house.
BRANDON—Another stereotypical jock. Basically canon fodder.

WOMEN
STRANGER—Our killer. A masked woman. Intimidating presence, but not necessarily huge and hulking. Has no dialogue.
MEGAN—Casey's girlfriend. Head cheerleader.
STEPHANIE—Josh's girlfriend, the horndog jokester.
JENNIFER—The nerd.
ASHLEY—The stoner.

Here's a copy of the script: [link]

AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD NEXT SATURDAY AT NOON
[address to Lee & Rusty's house by the lake]

If you have any questions, just ask! The shoot for the project should take about three weeks, since we'll be shooting mostly in the evening. I've got a 9-5 job and I'm sure many of you guys do too, so I'm very willing to work around everyone's schedule! We won't need everyone every day, but the people playing Casey, Stranger, Megan, and Stephanie have the largest parts, so I'll need them more often.

And! You don't have to be a professional actor to audition! I know there's hidden talent out there. I'm just waiting to tap it. (Yes, I know that's what she said. :) )

If the blizzard and subsequent ice storm were good for anything, it was that they at least gave me a chance to sit down and finish the screenplay I've been working on.

Nothing big, just a short film I'm hoping to start shooting sometime this month. I know February is (sort of) the month of love...but is anyone interested in working on a horror movie? I'm going to start casting soon, so I figure it's a good idea to put out some feelers online.

There's going to be a lead gal and dude, and then plenty smaller parts. And plenty of dead extras! For the most part it's your typical slasher movie, but in this one the gender roles are reversed. It's all-dude party that gets disrupted but a female killer.

Anyone interested in helping out behind the camera is welcome! As for actors...stay tuned for more details soon!

Sometimes I wonder if some of my interests run much too juvenile.

That being said...

...who are your favorite Muppets?

I'm so glad everyone in quarantine is out and that so many people are getting better. It really looks like the town's coming alive again. Maybe alive isn't exactly a good word to use here because people did die...

Halloween this year is going to be very subdued this year, to say the least.

okay i feel like this is getting absurd.

WHERE IS MY POTTERMORE WELCOME EMAIL?! My passing desire to get sorted has now become a full-on NEED. This is what waiting and withholding does to a person who is, if I do say so myself, normally very sane! And somewhat mature. But right now I feel like strangling my Gmail account. I know they're staggering the emails BUT BUT BUT if I have to wait all the way til the end of September, what beta will there have been for me to test? None! Because the site would be opening to everyone like a week or two after that! arrrrghhhhshfjhdkaf jk rowling why are you doing this to me

I don't like Ryan Reynolds. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because he's cut to the point where he doesn't look human. Or maybe it was a bad experience watching Van Wilder back in college. (Then again, every experience watching Van Wilder is a bad experience.) I didn't even like Fifteen on Nickelodeon! (Oh my God, do you guys remember Fifteen?) I just don't understand his appeal at all.

But he's everywhere! I went to the movies this weekend and I am not kidding--two trailers in a row were for movies starring him. Green Lantern (which looks terrible and is doing not so great at the box office, ha) and another movie where he switches bodies with Jason Bateman. Poor Jason Bateman. He's great, but he makes such horrible choices in movies. Did anyone see The Sweetest Thing? What an embarrassing attempt at a female-driven gross-out comedy.

This post has been very ranty. I suppose this is what Ryan Reynolds does to me. Maybe that's why I don't like him.

I watched A Single Man this weekend and was surprised to find I enjoyed it, for the most part. The surprise didn't spring from the subject matter or anything (which was intriguing enough to make me watch it--60s period piece about a gay professor planning to commit suicide after the death of his longterm partner, based on a Christopher Isherwood novel), but from the fact that Tom Ford directed it. I don't like Tom Ford. He designed for Gucci, blah blah, but he also did that terrible Vanity Fair cover with naked Scarlett Johansson and Keira Knightley (and made sure to put himself on there too) and he was behind the horrrrrrible, creepy (and nsfw?) ad campaign for his fragrance, with the naked women and the bottles shoved in uncomfortable places. Ugh.

But A Single Man was surprisingly tasteful! Maybe he's changing or maybe the time period of the piece reined him in. Regardless, I liked it. But what I liked best of all was Colin Firth's character's house. It's a real house! LOOK AT IT. It's so beautiful it makes me want to cry. Look at all that glass! And the wood! I love mid-century homes. This kind of thing is my porn. I can't wait until I can afford to get my own home built. But that means I need to finish the design first, and I've been changing and refining that for years.

So does this town have any good ghost stories? Lay 'em on me. I know that Lodge is old enough to have something haunting it.

Hello, Heritage!

My name's Lee and I am so new in town that I haven't even been here for twenty-four hours yet. I'm planning on going apartment/house-hunting tomorrow so I was wondering--anyone got any recommendations for areas in town? I'd love to hear them.

Thanks!
